On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, almost 300 Members of the Greater Gibson County Area Chamber of Commerce came together for our 40th Annual Member Appreciation Banquet. We enjoyed a meal prepared by Josh Gibson and Richard Sharp (donated by Tyson), Barry Nabors with Crenshaw's, and Sally Arnold. Our servers for the night were students from Peabody High School. The entertainment was provided by the very talented Tony Burriss and Kim Rodamaker, and Auctioneer Brent Croom added to the excitement as he helped us raise money for the Brandon Newman Memorial Scholarship. This year's recipients, Isha Wade and Corri Whitby, were recognized later in the evening. The event was capped off with the presentation of the 2022 Chamber Award Winners.
Mrs. Heather Scruggs Jones from the Gibson County Special School District was named the Educator of the Year. Other nominees in the category were: Jill Bibb from Trenton Special School District and Deena Ryan from Bradford Special School District. The Award was sponsored by: Touching Hearts at Home.
Andy Zarecor with the Gibson County Fair Board was named the Young Professional of the Year. Other nominees in the category were: Blake White with Gibson County Utility District; Carla Hoskins with Gibson County Utility District; Melanie Allen with Tennessee Correctional Services West; and Paul Richards with Bradford Special School District. The Award was Sponsored by The Gibson County Fair Board.
Emily Sullivan with Gibson Electric Membership Corporation was named the Person of the Year. Other nominees in the category were: Allyson Horner with Gibson County Utility District; Brian Griffith with Why Not Food Ministries; Rickey Graves with Gibson County EMA; Sally Arnold with Sally's Diner; and Vanessa Presson with the City of Medina. The Award was Sponsored by Medina Family Chiropractic.
Kenton Drug was named the Small Business of the Year and Gibson Electric Membership Corporation was named the Large Business of the Year. Other nominees in the category were: Chelsey's Boutique; Christian Women's Job Corp-Twice Blessed; MacLean Power Systems, Sally's Diner, and Tate's Kwik Stop. The Award was sponsored by TenCom.
Sandy Moss was named the Hometown Hero. Other nominees in the category were: Alan Abbott; Bill Joyner; Charlotte Halford; and the Gibson County Innovative High School Grant. The Award was sponsored by Alliance Staffing.
